Three weeks ago, Mary (name changed for protection) joined a tailoring training program in Mundri. At first, she knew nothing about sewing, but step by step she began to learn the basics — rolling the wheel, working with the belt, and sewing straight lines with and without thread.

With every lesson, Mary’s confidence grew.

“I have already started to learn how to sew. My legs feel lighter now, and by this week (16/9/2025) we will begin cutting fabric and learning fashion. Soon, I will be sewing clothes.”

For Mary, this training is more than learning a trade. It is a path to healing, independence, and dignity as a survivor.

Mary looks forward to completing the course and using her new skills to earn an income, support her family, and rebuild her life.

“This training has given me hope. I believe that when I finish, I will be able to stand stronger and build a brighter future.”

Mary (not the real name) is one of the survivors under the “survivors Empowerment through Advocacy and Reparation”-SEAR project funded by Global Survivors Fund.
